GLAUCOMA- A case study

A serious case of Glaucoma with optic nerve damage.

Notes     1. Treatment of glaucoma is not a quick ‘fix’ and typically takes months

                   to years for significant progress.

              2. This was a difficult case with severely damaged eyes, but it demonstrates

the power of homeopathy, if allowed to work over a period of time.

              3. There were some minor acute problems that arose during the treatment

that were easily handled without causing any deterioration in the chronic

                  condition.

1st Oct 2018 .A 4 year old boy who had suffered terribly since 4 months old  with Stickler Syndrome. This is an hereditary progressive arthro-ophthalmopathy and genetic malfunction which ,amongst other symptoms, attacks the eyes resulting in severe myopia, cataracts, glaucoma and detached retinae as well as a cleft palate and possible conductive hearing loss. When presented he had experienced 25+ surgeries,30 anaesthetics and 8 sedations to address the cataracts, detached retina and glaucoma. His ongoing appointments amounted to 15 separate specialists in the disciplines of Audiology, Paediatrics, Genetics, Radiology, X rays, MRI, Ear,nose and throat, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Optometrists, speech therapists, ECG and ultrasound for his heart,Blennz assessment team,Plastic and Craniofacial specialists,Cleft palate team,Brain surgeons and Psychologists.

The main indicator of Glaucoma, the intra- ocular pressure ,despite all the treatments ,hovers around 25 to 31 mm Hg.

The normal range is 12-20 mm Hg.

In the past year alone he had experienced:

1.     Three seperate Goniotomys . This procedure, once drops and laser surgery have failed, involves cutting into the lens to help drain the fluid from the natural drainage system ( trabecular meshwork) to lower the intra ocular pressure  This involves Insertion of a molten tube.

2.     Lots of needling work (on scar tissue)

3.     Cataract surgeries in both eyes.

4.     Prevention surgery for a detached retina including

(a)cryotherapy (extremely low temperatures to seal the retina to the back wall of the eye by forming a scar.).This surgery was first performed in New Zealand and he was one of the first of his age in the world to have it done.

(b) laser therapy-Cataract surgeries in both eyes.

After successful homeopathic treatment for the long term effects of anaesthetic with XENON 1M , which had a remarkable effect on his general happiness, the parents wanted to treat the glaucoma with homeopathy. They had no expectations, but as the intra-ocular pressure was 31mm Hg  any help was to be appreciated.

All conventional medicines were continued as before.

13/12/18  Osmium 200C bd for 3 days at the start of the month and Atropine Sulphate 30C

t.i.d for one week in the middle of the month.

1/02/19  Pressure reduced to 20 . Keep taking Atropine Sulp 30C as before but change

To Zinc Phos 30C at the beginning of the month.

10/02/19 Reacted to Zinc Phos. Crying ,Restless sleep, headaches .Dont take the Atropine

                  Sulphate 30C

17/02/19  Reaction settled down and back to normal self. No medicine.

21/03/19 Pressure down to 15. Parents ecstatic. Continue Zinc Phos 30C  and Atropine Sulphate 30C as before, for two months.

10/05/19 Pressure up to 25. Disappointment all round. Stop Zinc Phos 30c and replace with Pilocarpine 30C.

18/07/19. Pressure  16 .Overjoyed. No more homeopathic remedies for a few months

to let the eyes get used to the new normal.

16/12/19 Pressure stable at 17. No medicine.

3/03/20 Zinc Phos 30C , 3 x day for a week ,once a month,to address the optic nerve damage.

1/05/20 Scans of optic nerve compared to 3 months ago show dramatic improvement

The pictures have only one ‘red’ compared with three ‘reds’ 3 months ago,and

                 6 reds in 2018.

24/09/20 Checkup shows all good. Pressure 18, retina attached, optic nerve clear.

(scan showed no ‘red’ sections) .

                  No more medicine

Lost contact for 18 months due to covid.

18/02/22. Mother’s email on reconnecting:

Since we have last spoken James’ pressures have been amazing. 3 years and no surgeries!

He has currently been diagnosed this week with corneal band keratopathy (calcium build up in the un well eye). Surgeon says build up from trauma and surgeries in the past and will be having surgery within a month.

Do you have any recommendations we could do to eliminate this calcium build up?

Rx. Calcium Flouride 6C , bd for two months.

3/04/22  Mother’s email:

James had his surgery last week and all went well. The improvement in the month by taking the calc fluor 6 was incredible to the point we even wondered if he would need surgery.

9/06/22  Mother’s email:

James had a check up today and his eye is looking amazing!!

Pressure 14 and all in green, no red and surgeon is very happy.

                                              No more medicine.

NOTE 1. The presiding surgeons were unaware of the homeopathic treatment (parents wishes, not mine since I cannot see why there cannot be co-operation between Allopathy and homeopathy.)

2.The surgeons were often surprized at the improvements. After 25

unsuccessful surgeries the surgeons were at a loss to explain the

dramatic and lasting improvements. Everyone concerned

had no problem allowing the surgeons to take the credit!
